Jase's second year of flag football

Jase just completed his second year of flag football through the Y.  He loved last year so why not give it a whirl this year too. It was comparable to last year but the older you get the more serious football gets.  They had practices every Friday night from 6-7 and they ran PLAYS...yes PLAYS. Each player had to know what Doug, the coach, was meaning when he would call out "REVERSE!"  or something like that.  Jase was likes to be the social bug and be everyone's friend.  He liked to goof around at practice.  I told him he was going to get in trouble either by his dad (who helped coach) or the head coach if he kept it up.  Sure enough...he did...and lets just say his dad wasn't pleased!!  He wasn't in his face mad at him he just wanted him to know the importance of practice and how that helps with winning and being competitive.
Jase had games every Sunday.  So the Sundays Jeff wasn't working he was out on the field helping coach.  Thank goodness for candy, popcorn and grandparents because I wouldn't have been able to see a single second of his games if it wasn't for those things keeping the other two busy.  The teams kids would play both offensive and defensive.  Jase was the center on offensive (of course) and on defensive he would basically run and block anyone that would come in his way.  He said he liked it but we will see what he thinks next year if he gets asked to play again.  He was so funny this year too because they had to play with mouth guards and he hated the taste of them.  His jersey was always drenched after the games which I thought at first was sweat but nope it was spit.  He would spit on the arm of his shirt because he couldn't stand the taste of the mouth guard!! Yep that is my Jaser!  They had a great team and it was so much fun to watch them.  They played in West Des Moines every Sunday so that was the ONLY thing I hated about them but it was well worth the trip.  They are ending the season at Petes Pizza here in Indy tomorrow night with all the players.
