We have definitely been busy this summer. With Jase being in year around school, the summer is about to an end for him. Something I am not used to, but we love the school system so shortening the summer break isn't going to be that difficult considering he does have about 3 weeks off in the fall. We are trying to check everything off my "bucket list" for the summer, or just moms way of making her "to do" list seem fancy. We have been spending most of our days outside. We come home from the Y and we are outside until it is dark. We like to go on walks, go to the park or just play with our toys at home. Some days we will hit up the movie theater or the ice-cream place.
Jase just finished up baseball with Indianola Little League last week. He was on the Nationals this year along with a few of his friends from Irving. He also met some friends that we have been able to continue to spend some summer days with! He enjoyed baseball this year. Last year it was more of an introduction to the sport where this year he actually understood why he was doing the things he was doing. They ended the season with an awards ceremony and he was given a medal. He is excited about playing next year so at least he enjoyed it enough to try it out again another year.

Both boys just finished up another session of swim lessons at the Y. They love everything about the water so keeping them in lessons is key for us. They both do pretty well in the water. If there is water around they are either in it or playing in it. They start lessons back up again soon so they are ready to rock those lessons! They both also just finished up VBS at our church. This was something they loved and couldn't stop talking about it last year so signing them up again was at the top of my list for this summer. The theme was "A Blast from the Past" so the songs they sang were very familiar ones that I remember singing when I was little. Every day they would come home with a different craft activity they made and we couldn't forget the songs they would sing. We would put he CD in the car and they would sing away. At the end of the week they had a concert at church singing a couple of the songs they learned. It was great! The boys did wonderful. Of course little Tycer was shy at first and didn't want to do all of the actions but once he warmed up he was great!
Tyce also just finished up his camp at the preschool. It is a week long for about 3 hours in the morning. He loved seeing all of his preschool friends. The theme this year was all about water and mostly the ocean. He came home with a different project every day and the last day they had a water day which consisted of me sending him in his swim trunks knowing how he loves getting in the water so much. One of his best friends Reese was in the class with him so he looked forward to seeing her every day! I think he is ready for preschool to start up again. Next year he will be in the Red class which meets all 5 days from 12-2:55. It is an awesome class because there are only about 7 kiddos and 2 teachers so they get a lot of one on one attention which will be great for Tyce since he will be going into Kindergarten the following year. I decided to be a member of the preschool board this year and help with activities the preschool puts on as well as fundraising for the preschool. It is a 3 year commitment but with that the kiddos get free tuition so well worth it. Also, they put on activites for the board members and their children so the kids have had fun with the different things as well.

I haven't forgotten about the little miss. Some exciting things she has done this summer is joined a tumbling class and she absolutely LOVES it. The girl can't get enough forward rolls and jumping on a giant trampoline. She asks everyday if she can go to tumbling. We have the class on Tuesday evenings so her and I both look forward to some girl time for once!

Our summer seems to be going by much quicker than I expected. Usually by the time school is supposed to start I am ready for them to go back, but this year that isn't the case. Jase already starts back on Monday, July 13th so trying to do all the fun summer activities I have had planned for the kids has been challenging. We have a day at Adventureland planned along with some visits to the Science Center and Zoo. We made it to the zoo a couple times already with the season pass we got this year so that makes it nice. We hope to make it to Lake Okoboji again and do some more boating and tubing. Other than that we find ourselves busy as ever. I have found myself looking forward to a rainy day here and there so I can actually get some things done in the house. Let's face it, it is impossible to clean, organize or really do any type of housework with the kids. Maybe that is more of my excuse not to do it!!
