Happy Birthday Miss Hayden Mae

Our sweet girl turned one.  It is a bittersweet time for Jeff and myself.  Knowing this would be the last "first" birthday in our house was a sad but happy time.  The thought of knowing that our little family of 5 plus Ady is complete makes me so happy, but knowing that little baby month to month stages won't be happening again makes me kind of sad.  Going thorough it, you can't wait for some stages to pass and you are ready for the next, but once it is over, I have to sit back and think how fast it went and how much I really do enjoy the baby stages!
Oh Miss Mae where do I start with you!? Hayden has been such a joy.  Having two boys and then a girl has been so fun and her big blue eyes caught our attention from the first second of life!  We love having a sweet, but holds her own kind of girl around.  The boys know not to mess with the Miss!  One year ago we didn't really know what to think.  Having three has been cake since we already had two crazy boys.  But, having a little miss has been so great.  She has her older brothers to protect her and of course being daddy's little girl" always helps too.  Lets just say she rules the Bates household...for now anyway.  Miss Hayden has been walking, talking and eating eating eating!  If anyone knows our little one, they know she can eat and eat and EAT!  She loves anything from corn, pears and green beans to rice, mac and cheese, cake and ice cream!  We made it a whole year on breast milk and we even had to throw some out.  She wasn't hard to ween off.  She pretty much let me know she was over the breastfeeding and breast milk after about 11 months.  Her favorite thing to do right now is pounce on poor Ady and try and get to her brother's toys.  She likes to push their buttons.  I think she knows they won't get mad at her!  She is also in the stage where she loves to bang things together so needless to say, it is NEVER quiet in our house.  I guess it hasn't been for years!  Hayden is so far the best sleeper.  We put down around 7 and she will sleep until about 7:30.  Amazing.  I wish she could teach Tycer that! She is also the dare devil.  She tries to keep up with her brothers and she doesn't realize that she can't do a lot of the things they can, but man she will try!  Getting to buy pink instead of blue and green has been great too.  We love having pink shoes, pink tutu's, dresses and cute little bathing suits!  Even Jeff loves to dress the miss.  You can definitely tell the days he gets her ready because he doesn't just do the typical onsie and pants.  He does the full out tights with a dress.  Even if it is just for a day at home.
We celebrated our little Miss with our families around with pink and princesses all over.  We had a day all about her.  She loved her cake and her presents and her brothers were such great "helpers" when it came to opening them.  Her sweet smile beamed all day and she was ready to give out big hugs to everyone.
Miss Hayden had her one year doctor appointment last week.  She is 29.5 inches which is in the 61st percentile and she is weighing a whopping 21 pounds which puts her in the 48th percentile.  She is a petite little thing! Her bottom two front teeth are fully in and the top ones are still working there way down.  She is healthy as can be (minus the two months of straight sickness in our household) which is all we can hope for!

To our baby girl:
The day you were born, your pretty bright blue eyes got our immediate attention.  I wasn't really sure what to expect with having a girl around, but your mom and dad couldn't be happier.  You are such a pretty little princess, but you don't like anyone to mess with you.  Your attitude shows that you can stick up for yourself, but you are so sweet.  You love to lay your head on anyone's shoulder and the snuggles you give just melt our hearts.  You are such a daddy's girl and you have been since day 1.  You do like to be with your mom too, but you tend to flock towards daddy at times in need.  Your smile can brighten our days so fast, and every morning when I come and get your out of your bed, your face lights up.  It is THE BEST feeling in the world!!  We are so blessed to have you in our life miss Hayden Mae.  I don't know what we would do without you.  You have completed our family of 5 and having you, our daughter, be the last one of the "firsts" and "lasts" brings a tear to my eye, but so much joy to our hearts!  Bless you miss Mae!  We can't wait to see what you will bring in the years to come.  We love you so very much.
