I had to sit back and think last week that our oldest little man was turning 5 years old. That is a huge age to me. For some reason learning to count by 5 is a big deal, everything is divided up by 5 and so on, so turning 5 is a great BIG deal. Since it was Spring break the week Jase turned 5 we wanted to do something special for that guy. Unfortunately EVERYONE and I mean EVERYONE in our house was sick and we still are. Fortunately, we were all in okay to good health for his big birthday party last weekend. Talk about someone so proud to be 5 years old. I think he told every single person that he saw that week how old he was. Every time he looks at a toy and it says ages 5+, he knows that means he is able to play with it since well, he is 5 ya know! But anyway on his special day since we weren't really able to do much we tried to do as many fun and exciting things that we could. Daddy went out early and got him donuts and a pack of hot wheels that he shared with Tyce, we also had a special lunch of his choice and went out to the Y. He also had a special visitor that brought him over some gifts including his favorite thing right now, legos. All his grandparents and his aunts called him and sang to him of course! Everyone really made his day special. I think his favorite part of the day was building legos with Daddy. Jeff was able to come home early, so they were able to build for most of the night (seems to be a frequent thing at our house lately...).
On a more serious note Jase has grown so incredibly much in the last 5 years. I keep telling Jeff "he is so old." The things he says and asks, and how he can act so much like a grown kiddo, has definitely changed just in the last year. We are so blessed to have this little man in our life. He was our first little guy to show us what unconditional love really is. His role as the big bro has really made him act like the "boss" in the house as well. He is a huge help to me with his brother and sister and I can trust that Jase will make the right choices either in school or if I ask him to do something for me, he never hesitates and gets right to it (most of the time). Jase is so ready for Kindergarten. We love to hear him talk about how brave he will be at his doctors appointment when he has to get his shots. Hayden will be going with him and she will have shots as well so we keep telling him that he will have to be brave for his little sister. They have also been preparing him for his doctors appointment at preschool. The teachers are very good at letting the children know what is coming up before they get to kindergarten. Jase has so many friends too. That little social bug is always wanting to have friends over or go over to their house. Just a few weeks ago he was asked to go to a friends house from school and the following Sunday he went to a movie with another friend. He is finding he likes to play with the boys more than the girls in school though, which I am not surprised. He is such a boy that loves to race cars, wrestle and crash anything and everything in to the walls, table and chairs! What a little man he has become!!

The moment we set eyes on you our life was changed. You stole my heart immediately and you still seem to have me wrapped around your little finger at times. The sweet comments you say to your dad and me really makes us smile. You have such a big heart (like we always say). You have grown and matured so much in just the last year it is incredible you will be all ready for Kindergarten. I am so glad you have found a group of good kiddos to be your friends. You have such a good head on your shoulders, so we hope that continues through your upcoming years. Keep your smile on your face at all times and don't let anyone in the world bring you down. Kindergarten will be an adjustment for your buddy, but your daddy and mommy have so much confidence in you that we know you will do your best! We love you J-man. Keep up all the good work!!!
