Tyce turns 5

God Bless the middle child!  He runs to keep the peace.  He never wants anyone left out.  The pain in others becomes his own.  He has a heart of gold.  He watches over his sister and even is brother.  Give him wisdom to know when to help and patience fort he times he should not.  May his heart always be filled with love and his passion for others never die.  We love our little guy even though he is not so little anymore.

We celebrated Tyce's 5th birthday earlier last month. As always being that it is December, the chaos of the month gets in the way, but I think Tyce was pretty blessed this year!
We celebrated his actual birthday with the family over for his favorite dish of spaghetti.  He opened all of his presents and  blew out his 5 little candles on his cake.  Tyce has been in to Jurassic World ever since we saw the movie in the theater so having that has him "theme" was no surprise.  However the cake I had in mind compared to the cake that I actually ended up having were two different things.  In the end all that mattered to him was having candles to blow out so I could just call the cake the candle holder:)

 Tyce wanted two things for his birthday.  He wanted a gum ball machine for his room, and he wanted to have a party at the Indianola tumbling center with all of his friends.  His party was a hit and he felt pretty special.

My little Tycer definitely has that heart of gold.  He is such a nice boy and what I thought would be my crazy/hyper/I'm the boss kid has been nothing but a sweat heart.  Don't get me wrong, he still has his moments where he can be just that but when I talk to his teachers and the child care providers at the Y, they say he is always so helpful and he likes to watch out for the other people.  Tyce has the type of personality that if something bad happens to someone (especially his sister or brother) he feels the same bad feelings they do.  He also remembers EVERYTHING so if you try and get by with the "we can do that later buddy" he will remember that and you will be doing it later no matter what.
Tyce is doing great in preschool and is more than ready for Kindergarten.  He is so eager to read and writes and colors constantly.  He tries to do Jase's homework with him.  It is nice because that motivates Jase as well.  He can't wait to go to the same school as his big brother.  He talks about eating lunch at school and finding Jase after school to leave for the day.  It will be nice to have them on the same schedules.  Tyce recently had his 5 year check up which Jeff was the lucky one to take him. It was the BIG one with all the shots (as Jase would say).  Tyce is weighing in at 65 lbs and is 46.5 inches tall which puts our little BIG man in the 97th percentile for both height and weight.  He loves his apples and wants one every day for lunch.  He still loves a little Curious George every once in a while but he is really in to superheros.  From Captain America to Batman or Superman he loves them all.  I asked him just the other day what he wants to be when he grows up.  This changes often so I wanted to see what he was going to say.  He first said a police man which is what he said the last time but then he changed his mind to Santa. I said "Tyce you have to be chosen to be Santa you can't just become him."  He said "I know Mom, I will be the chosen one!"  The conversations that go on with this kiddo are nothing but entertaining.  Tyce is finishing up another session of swimming lessons and just started basketball on Saturdays.  We also signed him up for soccer in the spring through the soccer tribe in Indianola.  He really wanted to play and the soccer through the Parks and Rec here wasn't as challenging for him as we thought so signing him up for Soccer Tribe was the next step.  Tyce will also have his first year of Little League.  He can't wait for that either.  A lot of changes are going on with this little kiddo and he is doing great adapting to them.  From the first day of preschool where he would't let go of my leg and cried everyday for the first month to now, I would say Mister Independent has come a long way.

To our favorite five year old-
You are not so little anymore.  You have grown so much in the last year that mom and dad have to sit back and take it all in that you are growing up so much.  You are becoming such a gentleman and you are so selfless.  You have many of the qualities that mom and dad have always wanted to see in their children.  If you keep growing at the rate you are, you will be the biggest one in your entire class of 2028.  We love your more than you will ever know Tyce.  Thank you for making our lives so much better and our smiles so much bigger.  God Bless you little one!
